Key partners gathered for the official ground breaking of the Mission Park From the Ground Up transformation project.  Breaking ground were representatives from the Rotary Club, 4-H Club, Community Gardens, Community Gardens, Georgian Bay Biosphere Reserve, Town of Parry Sound, Georgian Bay Non-Profit Homes, Parry Sound Non-Profit Housing and horticulturists Anne Bossart and Gail McDonald.

Proposed Traffic Bylaw

The proposed Traffic Bylaw will be on the agenda for Council disposition for the regular meeting of Council April 2, 2013.  Written comments can be provided to Tammy Purdy, MLEO, at bylaw@townofparrysound.com or at The Town of Parry Sound, 52 Seguin Street, Parry Sound, ON, P2A 1B4

The Traffic Control By-law was enacted in 2007.  Reason for updating the bylaw are as follows:

1.    There have been a number of amendments to said By-law.  The proposed    Traffic By-law incorporates said amendments. 

2.    The set fines have not been increased in 6 years.  The proposed Traffic       By-law incorporates an increase greater than 10% - varies per offence. 

3.    Several municipal streets have been reconfigured; i.e., James Street,   Gibson Street and Belvedere Avenue.

Report: Review of Argyle Ambulance Operations

The Town of Parry Sound Council adopted Bylaw #2012-6087, being a by-law to regulate smoking in outdoor public places. 

The By-law was implemented to protect children and non-smokers from second-hand smoke and to reduce the amount of litter caused by disposing of cigarette butts.  As of June 1, 2013, smoking is prohibited in, and within 9 metres, of any municipally owned or leased park, playground, beach, and recreational field.  Smoking is permitted only in a posted designated smoking area.  Please note that Kinsmen Park is located in the Township of McDougall; therefore is not included in By-law 2012-6087.
